Have you ever found yourself in a situation where it feels like you have no control over what you eat?

Maybe you’re a guest in someone’s home, traveling for work, or caught in an unexpected schedule?

You’re not alone — I coach hundreds of people who face moments like these. And here’s what I always remind them:

  1. Ask Yourself: Am I Really Out of Options — or Making Excuses?

Sometimes we convince ourselves we “have no choice” — but really, we’re letting the circumstances call the shots.
It’s worth checking in: Am I giving away my power?

When you’re truly committed to your health, you find a way to make it work — even at airports, hospitals, or family dinners. (I’ve seen it happen countless times.)

And if you do choose to enjoy something outside your usual habits — own that choice!
There’s no need to blame the situation. When you stay empowered, it feels completely different.

Pro tip: If you’re visiting someone, offer to bring a healthy dish. Most hosts appreciate the extra help — and no, you won’t offend anyone by politely skipping dessert.

You always have choices.

  1. Even If You Can’t Control WhatYou Eat, You Can Control HowYou Eat.

Sometimes, you may truly have limited options.
In those moments, focus on your behavior, not just the food itself:

  • Eat slowly and mindfully.
  • Chew your food and actually enjoy it.
  • Appreciate that someone prepared a meal for you — that’s a gift.
  • Stop eating when you’re satisfied.
  • Most importantly: Let go of the guilt.

One meal won’t undo your progress.
Guilt, shame, and “I’ll start over Monday” thinking will.

Bottom line:
You’re in the driver’s seat — always.
Owning your choices, without guilt or excuses, is how you build true, lasting health.

You don’t have to be perfect — you have to stay connected to your power.
And I’m here to help you every step of the way.
